A New Look, A Stronger Foundation
This spring, Project HOPE took an exciting step forward with the opening of our new administration building at 459 Valley Street, right next door to the shelter. The renovated space includes staff offices, a conference room, and a dedicated resource room designed to support shelter guests and clients of our outreach services program.
Bringing our administrative offices and direct service spaces together on one campus allows us to work more efficiently, strengthen coordination among our team, and create a more welcoming and accessible environment for the people we serve.
The resource room provides access to computers and technology to help people search for jobs, explore housing opportunities, complete applications, and take important steps toward stability. Staff and volunteers are available to assist with technology questions and provide support along the way. Resource room hours are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 9:00–11:00 am, with additional times available by appointment.
Our shelter building at 433 Valley Street is also getting a fresh new look. The brick exterior was recently painted blue to complement the siding, giving the building a brighter, more welcoming appearance. We are incredibly grateful to our local Willimantic Sherwin-Williams store for donating $5,000 in paint and supplies, and to George Palmas of Palmas Pro Paint for his generous work bringing this project to life.
Soon, the brick surfaces at 459 Valley will receive the same update, creating a cohesive campus feel across both buildings. We have also added a storage shed behind the administration building that will provide secure lockers for people living unsheltered in our community, as well as for guests who will use our cold-weather drop-in center this fall.
